Organizers announce the schedule of event for Smithfield’s 175th anniversary.

Friday, July 31

• Saturday Night Supper on a Friday Night featuring bean hole beans and more, 5-7 p.m., Fairview Grange. Live music will be performed by Maine’s Blues guitarist Dave Mello and Kevin James.

Saturday, Aug. 1

• Smithfield Post Office – Commemorative 175th cancellation stamp will be available at the Smithfield Town Office.

• Loon Call 5K, 7:30 a.m. registration ($5), 8 a.m. start, Smithfield Baptist Church.

• North Pond Association information booth willl be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Fairview Grange.

• Float Boat Tours, first-come, first-served (weather and water condition dependent), 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Fairview Grange.

• NPA merchandise for sale, Are You Buff Enough? How to Become LakeSmart-er, Buffer Plant Sale, membership drive, East Pond Association informaton booth, EPA merchandise for sale, LakeSmart information, membership drive, more, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

• “Poetry in the Grange — Carrying the Torch,” 4-5 p.m., Fairview Grange. Hosted by published local poet Douglas “Woody” Woodsum with special guest, Maine’s Poet Laureate, Wesley McNair

• Smithfield Maine Historical Society open house and tours, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., history house.

• Classic Car Show, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., sponsored/presented by Ray Morrow’s Garage.

• Sunbeam Roller Rink, 2-4 p.m., $2 suggested donation. Proceeds will benefit SVFD Rescue ATV.

• Special 175th Smithfield Baptist Church Service, 10 a.m., featuring Chime Choir, Vocal Choir and Worship Band, Hymns Praise Choruses

• Leap Year Town Parade, 1:30 p.m., Grand Marshal is Smithfield’s returning son, Brigadier General Darren Hartford. Parade route: Lake View Drive through the Village of Smithfield.

• Re-dedication of the Municipal Complex, 4 p.m., 926 Village Road. Speakers: Timothy Downing and Town Selectmen.
