The Friends of Wayne will host Places of the Heart … Homes of Wayne Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12; rain or shine. Tour participants can explore the village of Wayne and some of its many treasures.

The tour will offer an inside peek into historic family camps, a turn of the century inn, older homes, newer homes, fall gardens, architectural landmarks between Pocasset Lake and Lake Androscoggin.

Complimentary refreshments, a boutique and a classic wooden boat display by Androscoggin Wooden Boatworks will be offered at the venerable 104-year-old Androscoggin Yacht Club. Wayne’s original fire truck will be on display, art exhibits will be showcased and lunch will be available for purchase.

The tour is sponsored by Longfellow’s Greenhouses in Manchester, Pat Ladd/Homestead Realty, Downeast Energy, Stephanie Haines and Kennebec Savings Bank and many local businesses and friends.

Tickets cost $25 in advance or $28 the day of the event. Tickets will be available in mid-August or by reservation by calling 685-3612. Proceeds will benefit for the Cary Memorial Library and the Wayne Community Church.
