WATERVILLE — The Kennebec Club will celebrate its first anniversary from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Head of Falls Park. The event will feature lunch from noon to 2 p.m. Lunch consists of hamburgers, hot dogs, dynamites, chips and soda. Andy’s Disc Jockey Service will provide music for dancing; bring own chairs, blankets and umbrellas. Rain date: Aug. 8.
The Kennebec Club is committed to providing a welcoming, safe and supportive environment to those who have been effected by substance abuse. The organization is a community-based, peer-driven center providing sober recreation, activities and assistance in making connections in the recovery community, according to a news release from the club. Club organizers are dedicated to helping each other enhance the quality of recovery through group discussions, workshops, trainings and educational sessions, according to a news release from the club.
