A 56-year-old Scarborough man died in an apparent drowning at Pine Point Beach in Scarborough shortly after noon Saturday, police said.
A Scarborough police and fire dispatcher received a 911 call at 12:05 p.m. reporting that the man had gone underwater, Scarborough police said in a statement.
Bystanders on the beach brought the man ashore using a longboard, and the first police officer to arrive began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation until rescue workers got there, according to police.
After 45 minutes of attempted CPR, the man could not be revived.
As of Sunday night, police had not released his name.
