A Detroit man arrested on domestic violence charges Aug. 2 while armed with a handgun in downtown Pittsfield was arrested again Tuesday, this time on seven counts of violating the conditions of his release on bail.

Steven L. Duke, 22, had been held in lieu of $2,500 cash bond at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison, but later was released. He was arrested again Tuesday at 7:20 p.m. by Mike Pike, of the office of the Somerset County district attorney.

He was charged Aug. 2 with criminal operating under the influence, domestic violence criminal threatening and aggravated reckless conduct. Eight police officers from Pittsfield, state police and the county sheriff’s department tracked Duke into the woods off Main Street, Pittsfield, before finding him and taking him into custody.

A woman and a child locked themselves in their home after the initial domestic violence incident and were not injured. No shots were fired, Pittsfield police Sgt. Tim Roussin said.

Duke remains held without bail at the county jail, an intake worker said Wednesday.
