An Augusta woman is in critical condition at a Portland hospital following a Sunday crash on Cony Street.

Jean Densmore, 67, rolled her car over after failing to negotiate a curve around 6 p.m., police said. She was taken by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where a spokeswoman on Monday said she was in critical condition.

Police said Densmore was traveling west on Cony Street in her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she approached the uphill curve near Haskell Street, where the speed limit is 25 mph. Sgt. Christopher Shaw of the Augusta Police Department said it appeared that she went straight instead of turning and went off the road, but he didn’t know what caused the crash. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, police said.
