AUGUSTA — A Massachusetts man scheduled to go to trial Tuesday at the Capital Judicial Center instead pleaded guilty a day earlier to a charge of unlawful trafficking in cocaine base.

He also will forfeit $370 in cash seized from him when he was arrested Jan. 21 in Waterville.

Taurus Allen, 36, of Allston, Massachusetts, and formerly of Auburn, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison and fined $400.

In exchange for the plea and forfeiture, charges of aggravated trafficking in cocaine base, all dated the same day, were dismissed.

In a separate case, Tammy M. Rastelli, 41, of Augusta and formerly of Chelsea, was sentenced Tuesday to three years in jail after pleading guilty to charges of theft by unauthorized taking and misuse of identification that occurred Feb. 15, 2014, and a second count of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and violating condition of release Dec. 2, 2014, all in Augusta.

The prison term is concurrent to a three-year probation revocation. Rastelli also was ordered to pay $1,614 restitution for the benefit of Camden National Bank.
