AUGUSTA — The Maine Wood Carvers Association will hold its annual wood carving show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Buker Community Center, 22 Armory St.

The show is opened to wood carvers of all genres including realistic bird carvings, decoys, wildlife, caricatures, chip carving, relief carvings, chainsaw carvings, wood turning, intarsia and more, according to a news release form the association.

Cost to enter is $4.

Erwin Flewelling is this year’s featured carver. He has carved several hundred birds of various species. In addition to his birds, Flewelling creates delicate feather pins and small birds to decorate a Christmas tree. He also does some flat artwork in oils and acrylics. He has written six instructional books on bird carving which are sold nationwide, according to the release.

There also will be a carving competition, vendors, carving tool sales, wood sales and raffles.
