PITTSFIELD — April McAlpine, Kali Doiron and Victoria Friend each had a hat trick to lead the Maine Central Institute field hockey team past Maranacook 14-0 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B openers for both teams Thursday.

Riley Trafton, Allison Hughes, Taylor Hall, Madisyn Hartley and Addi Williams added a goal apiece for the Huskies (1-0). McAlpine also had four assists. Mikayla Carr and Elspeth Taylor combined to make one save.

Sarah Mason stopped 10 shots for Maranacook (0-1).

WINSLOW 2, BELFAST 0: Delaney Wood made 17 saves and combined with Hope Winkin to shut out Belfast in both teams’ KVAC opener.

Sabrina Jandreau and Jessica Greeley scored for the Black Raiders (1-0). Winkin relieved Wood in the final five minutes and made one save. Morgan Fernald stopped 13 shots for the Lions (0-1).

LEAVITT 3, MOUNT VIEW 2: Kaitlyn Leclerc, Allie Belaine and Ashley Mathieu each scored to lead the Hornets. Reanna Boulay and Michelle Bilodeau scored for the Mustangs while Alexis Bowman had 11 saves. Mount View had the advantage in corners, too, 12-9.

CAMDEN HILLS 2, WATERVILLE 0: Emily Daggett scored twice in the first half and twice in the second half to lead Camden to a season-opening win over Waterville.

Willow Grinnell had two assists for the Windjammers (1-0), while Sara Scheafer made 12 saves in the cage. Colby Gangler made 17 saves for the Purple Panthers (0-1).
