VIENNA — The Sunday Project, an eight-piece combo/ensemble from the Skowhegan area, will play at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Vienna Union Hall.

The group has played at the Skowhegan Opera House, Lakewood Theater, Farmington Summer Fest, Walton Court Fireworks, Skowhegan Farmers Market concerts in the park, Chamber of Commerce events, the Skowhegan Fair, Redington Fairview General Hospital and of course the Vienna Union Hall Winter Revels last year, according to a news release from the ensemble.

The band plays old-time swing music from the Big Band era, tunes such as “In the Mood” a song from the ’40s, as well as old standards from the ’60s like “Surfing, USA.”

Members of the band come from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and their ages range from early 30s to mid-80s. Jason Giacomazzo, of Skowhegan, director of the group, plays saxophone and keyboard.

Other members include Victoria Hatch on alto saxophone, Whitney Cunliffe on tenor saxophone, Jay Marden on trombone, Randy Salisbury, piano and trumpet, Toey Mahattanan on trumpet, Les Tomlinson on drums and Peter Foxwell, bass.
