FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — LeeAnne Greenleaf of Gardiner recorded her first two career goals to help the University of Maine at Farmington pick up a non-conference win over Framingham State in their field hockey season opener on Saturday.
Winthrop’s Emmah Spahr added the other goal for the Beavers, while Sarita Crandall of Farmington recorded two assists. Patty Smith made five saves in the cage to record the shutout.
THOMAS 4, NICHOLS 1: Abby Dunn of Gardiner scored two goals to lead Thomas to a non-conference win over Nichols in Dudley, Mass.
Sophany Srey and Katie Taylor also scored for the Terriers (1-1).
WOMEN’S SOCCER
UMAINE-FORT KENT 8, THOMAS 0: Kendra Freund scored two goals as UMaine-Fort Kent cruised to a non-conference victory over Thomas in Waterville.
Erskine Academy’s Paige Leary made 21 saves in net for the Terriers (1-1).
MEN’S SOCCER
UMASS-BOSTON 3, THOMAS 0: Edmilson Barros found the back of the net twice to lead UMass-Boston to victory in a non-conference tilt played in Waterville.
Adam LaBrie scored the lone goal for the Terriers (0-3).
