GORHAM — Gardiner’s LeeAnne Greenleaf scored the game’s only goal off a penalty corner with nearly 15 minutes remaining as the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team blanked the University of Southern Maine 1-0 in a non-conference game Wednesday.

Mt. Blue’s Sarita Crandall picked up the assist on Greenleaf’s goal. Patty Smith returned to her home town to record seven saves post her second shutout of the season for the Beavers (3-0). It was UMF’s first win over USM (2-2) since 2010.

UNITY 9, CMCC 0: Bethany Zapata led eight different scorers with two goals as host Unity dominated.

Mariza Gionfriddo added a goal and two assists for Unity (2-3).

UMAINE-FARMINGTON 9, UMAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 1: A trio of Beavers scored each two goals to coast in Presque Isle.

Ashley Gleason, Katie Clark and Waterville’s Lydia Roy each notched a pair of goals for the Beavers (1-1). Sam Nadeau scored for the Owls.

UMAINE-FARMINGTON 4, UMAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 0: Yusef Yama scored twice as UMF rolled in Presque Isle.

Ibrahim Achekh added a goal and an assist for the Beavers, while Tristan Price notched the other goal. The Beavers out-shot the Owls, 22-0.

UNITY 3, CMCC 2: Francesco Guerrero tallied two first-half goals as Unity edged Central Maine Community College in its YSCC opener in Unity.

Jonathan Brock recorded the other goal for Unity (2-2). Mackenzie Michaud made four saves in net.
