A Clinton man was taken to an area hospital with head injuries Wednesday after the car he was driving collided head-on with another car on U.S. Route 201 in the Hinckley area of Fairfield, according to police.
William Church, 23, was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra south on U.S. Route 201 just before 10:52 a.m. and tried to turn left into the Hinckley General Store parking lot and struck a northbound 2001 Volkswagen Jetta head on, according to Fairfield police Officer Joe Pelletier, who investigated the accident.
Laura Batchelder, 42, of Hartland, was driving the Volkswagen with a passenger, Irene Magoon, 63, when the crash occurred, Pelletier said.
Church was taken to an area hospital by Delta Ambulance. Pelletier was not sure what hospital he was taken to. Batchelder complained of soreness at the scene and friends were planning to drive her to a hospital, according to Pelletier.
He said Magoon was not injured.
Both vehicles were destroyed and had to be towed from the scene, he said.
No charges have been filed in the accident.
