The self-importance, self-deception, and hypocrisy of Kim Davis are beyond belief.
Having sworn to uphold the laws of the United States, she disobeys them. She claims to support God’s definition of marriage as exclusively between a man and a woman when no such definition exists. Then she ignores biblical strictures that do exist — Jesus’s prohibition of divorce and remarriage, for example.
Jesus equates remarriage with adultery, the punishment of which is death by stoning. The woman has been divorced three times and married four.
If obeying the word of God is a legitimate claim to justify abusive behavior, then the ISIS soldiers who rape infidel women and insist it is the will of Allah, as reported in the New York Times, are not just to be pardoned but praised.
The saddest thing about this whole affair is the grave disservice Kim Davis has done to devout Christians everywhere.
