A search for a stolen car on Sunday led to the bottom of a Wayne pond.
Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward said the car, which was reported stolen Sunday morning, was later found submerged in Wilson Pond in Wayne.
No injuries were reported.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and nobody has been charged, Steward said.
The car, a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am four door, was reported stolen from a Leeds Road home shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday. Police posted a bulletin for other agencies to look for the car, which Steward said is valued at $3,000.
Maine State Police later recovered the vehicle from Wilson Pond, according to WCSH TV. Police are unsure if the car went into the pond accidentally or intentionally.
The Maine State Police Underwater Recovery Team pulled the car from the water, according to the television report.
