MONMOUTH — Hunter Richardson scored four goals and assisted on another as Monmouth exploded for five of the game’s first six goals in a 6-3 triumph over Carrabec in Mountain Valley Conference boys soccer action Monday.

Richardson scored the three goals in the five-goal outburst on a penalty kick, a breakaway and a header off a corner kick. Carrabec fought back to within 5-3 in the second half before Richardson assisted Avery Pomerleau on the goal that put the game away.

Gage Cote accounted for the other goal for the Mustangs (3-1). Dustin Crawford had two goals for the Cobras (2-1-1) while Dylan Willette scored the other goal.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 5, WINTHROP 0: Seth Peaslee scored a pair of goals to lead the Falcons to the MVC win in Winthrop.

Aleski Pirttijoki, Ryan Bennett and Garrett Garbarini also scored for Mountain Valley (4-0). Jacob Beauchesne made eight saves for the win.

Jackson Ladd had 17 saves for Winthrop (0-4).

HALL-DALE 3, WISCASSET 0: Alex Guiou had a goal and an assist to help the Bulldogs take a MVC win in Wiscasset.

Tyler Dubois and Jordan Gardner also scored for Hall-Dale (2-0-2), while Nick Guiou had an assist.

Andy Peterson made five saves on six shots for the Bulldogs. Conlon Ranga made 17 saves for Wiscasset (0-4).

FIELD HOCKEY

LAWRENCE 5, MCI 1: Domi Lewis scored a hat trick to lead the Bulldogs to a convincing win in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B field hockey.

Lauren Watson and Lilla Tilton-Flood each had a goal and an assist for Lawrence (4-1). Victoria Friend had the lone goal for the Huskies (3-2) off an assist from April McAlpine.

Lawrence’s Emily Tozier stopped two shots in the cage. Mikayla Carr made 12 saves for MCI.

WINTHROP 9, HALL-DALE 0: Emily Molino and Kat Hajduk each tallied two goals and an assist as Winthrop cruised to an MVC victory.

Sarah Spahr added a goal and an assist while Moriah Hajduk had two assists for Winthrop. Corinna Coulton made one save for the Ramblers (3-2). Kayle McGee made 16 saves for the Bulldogs (0-5).
