STANDISH — William Nilson scored in the 86th minute to lift the Thomas College men’s soccer team (2-2-0) to a 2-1 victory over St. Joseph’s College (2-3-1) in a non-conference contest at Westerlea Way Field Thursday.

Josh Emard gave the Terriers a 1-0 lead at the break with a goal before the Monks tied the game in the 53rd minute on a goal from Brett Mattos, assisted by Austin Bell.

Joakim Sternas finished with six saves in the win, while Scott Benner stopped five shots in goal for St. Joe’s.

FIELD HOCKEY

MAINE 4, QUINNIPIAC 1: The Black Bears ran their record to 6-1 with a win over the Bobcats in Hamden, Connecticut.

Skowhegan’s Jessica Skillings scored her first goal of the year in the win, while Marissa Shaw, Samantha Wagg and Danielle Aviani also scored for Maine.

Meghan McCullough had the lone goal for Quinnipiac.
