FARMINGTON — The University of Maine-Farmington’s defense didn’t allow a shot on goal while Messalonskee alum Mara Balboni scored two goals to secure a 5-0 win over Rivier College on Sunday at Prescott Field.

Emma Spahr of Winthrop also scored for the Beavers (4-0). Andrea Stemm and Susan Newkirk accounted for the other goals. Patty Smith and Alyssa Arsenault combined for the shutout, which was the Beavers’ third of the season.

THOMAS 3, PLYMOUTH STATE 2: Abigail Dunn of Gardiner scored two goals, including the game-winner, as Thomas rallied to defeat Plymouth State in New Hampton, NH.

Skowhegan alum Erica Blake also scored for the Terriers (3-4).

Nicole Burgess scored both goals for the Panthers (4-2).

COLBY 4, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 3: Megan Fortier scored the game-winning goal with four minutes to play as Colby earned a narrow NESCAC win over Connecticut College and Bill Alfon Field.

Fortier and Misha Strage tallied two goals apiece for the Mules (3-2). Heidi Halsted scored all three goals for the Camels (1-4).

CORNELL 2, MAINE 0: Krysten Mayers scored both goals and was the difference in a defensive battle played between Cornell and Maine in Burlington, Vt.

Maine (7-2) outshot Cornell, 17-12, but was unable to capitalize. Emily Corbett made two saves in goal for the Black Bears. Mackenzie Gagliardi also made two stops in the cage for Cornell (4-2).

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 5, COLBY 2: Mark Leon scored two goals to lead Connecticut College to a NESCAC victory over Colby.

Chris Lockwood added a goal and two assists while Austin DaCunha made four saves for the Camels (3-2). Lucas Pereira scored for the Mules (2-3), who also benefitted from an own goal by the Camels. John Pappas made six stops in net.
