A Chesterville man was arrested Wednesday on a fugitive-from-justice warrant issued by the state of Massachusetts for the charge of rape of a child.
Detectives Stephen and Ken Charles, of the Franklin Country Sheriff’s Department, arrested Mark Bennoch, 53, after learning from a Massachusetts State Police detective that there was a warrant out for Bennoch’s arrest in connection with the rape of a child in Massachusetts.
Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols could not comment on the charge from the Massachusetts State Police, but he said Bennoch is being held at the Franklin County Jail pending his extradition to Massachusetts State Police custody.
A call Friday morning to the Massachusetts State Police from the Morning Sentinel was not returned immediately.
