Liz Wood, the second-leading scorer on the Maine women’s basketball team last season, had arthroscopic surgery on her left knee Monday and will miss 3-6 weeks, the university announced Tuesday.

Wood averaged 13.8 points and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game last season as the Black Bears finished 23-9.

The senior forward was on crutches Tuesday and won’t be able to participate when practices begin Monday.

The regular season begins Nov. 13 at Harvard and Maine hopes she will be able to play by then.
