A Sidney man accused of breaking into self-storage containers two months ago has been charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft.

Marlon Cloutier, 24, is accused of breaking into seven storage lockers at Exit 120 Self Storage on Middle Road in early August and stealing items including tools, firearms, fishing rods and tackle, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office. The thefts were reported to the sheriff’s office on Aug. 5.

Review of surveillance camera footage and interviews led detectives to a Sidney residence, where Cloutier was interviewed and ultimately charged with seven counts of burglary and seven counts of theft, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives had evidence prompting them to think more people were connected to the burglaries, and they anticipate further charges in connection with the case.

Much of the stolen property was recovered, according to the sheriff’s office.
