Dion Lewis’ hot start has paid off.

The Patriots running back signed a two-year extension on Thursday taking him through the 2017 season, according to reports from ESPN and the NFL Network.

The deal is reportedly worth up to $5 million, with a $600,000 signing bonus, $2.6 million in base salary and the rest in incentives.

Lewis signed a futures contract with New England last year after missing two seasons because of injuries. Through three games he is averaging 4.9 yards on 30 carries and has 15 receptions for 179 yards.
