A couple from Sabattus were charged Thursday with trafficking in heroin.

Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Theodore M. Lague, 33, and Tabitha N. Tardiff, 32, after a search of their home at 54 West Ridge Road. Agents found 42 grams of heroin, which had a street value of $8,500, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

They also found sales and packing material, which McCausland said was consistent with trafficking in heroin.

They were charged with one count each of aggravated trafficking in heroin and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail, where bail was set at $5,000 on Lague and $2,500 on Tardiff.

McCausland said an investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
