GARDINER — Diana Doiron, Lee Ann Larsen and Sue Reed of the Maine Department of Education have been selected to lead the Straight from the State discussion of three timely educational topics. The session will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Little Theater at Gardiner Area High School, West Hill Road.

All three presenters are members of the Learning Assistance Team at the education department. Doiron will take on the topic Proficiency-Based Education, Another Passing Fancy? Larsen’s focus will be Literacy: NOT Business as Usual. Reed will reflect on the premise that early childhood education is not all about the three R’s.” Questions will be taken. Melanie Ruark will be moderator.

The seminar is open to the public, and is of special value to educators. Contact hour certificates are available. The event is sponsored by Gamma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an educational honorary.
