BREWER — After neither team could get on the scoreboard through regulation and two overtime sessions, No. 9 Mt. Blue buried three penalty kicks in a shootout for 3-1 win over eighth-seeded Brewer in a Class A North preliminary girls soccer game Saturday.

Eryn Doiron put the Cougars ahead 1-0 after the first round, but the Witches (8-7) tied it up in the second following a save from Mikayla Henderson and a goal from Meg Davis. Neither team converted in the third round, but in the fourth a Sierra Hoes goal and Brewer miss over the top set Mt. Blue (8-6-1) up to win it in the fifth.

Britlin Karkos beat Henderson to the top, right side of the goal to seal it for the Cougars. Addie Schanz finished with 10 saves in the win.
