AUGUSTA — Old Fort Western will celebrate Armistice/Veterans Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in conjunction with the Daniel Savages Company.
Savages Company will lead a scout at 11 a.m. from the Fort to Riverside Cemetery, the burial site of Captain Daniel Savage, a veteran of the Revolutionary War who led the original Savage Company in 1777-79. All are welcome to participate.
An 18th-century hearth demonstrations will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort. Inside the kitchen and parlor experienced staff will demonstrate cooking with apples; how to make journey cakes, wafers, carrot pudding, and pies over an open hearth.
