The “Singing softly for the end of life” conference reported in Sunday’s paper was made possible through a grant from the Hospice Fund of the Maine Community Foundation awarded to the Harbour Singers of Saco.

By connecting the eight existing bedside singing groups in Maine and reaching out to interested singers not yet affiliated with a group, it is our hope to strengthen and expand this service of singing at the bedsides of people coping with serious and life-limiting illness throughout the state.

Music can break through barriers and connect us all in so many ways. The timing of the conference provides a segue to National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, which is November.
