AUGUSTA — Farmers in Waldoboro and Saco are among the landowners lauded by the state this year for their contributions to Maine’s trails, snowmobiling and outdoor sports.
The state Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife hold the Landowner Appreciation Awards every year and the Maine Snowmobile Association and Landowners and Sportsmen Relations Advisory Board host it. Gov. Paul LePage says the event is meant to acknowledge landowners who partner with the state and snowmobilers to provide riding opportunities.
This year’s recipients include Cider Hill Farm in Waldoboro, Madore Farms in Connor, Grant Farm in Saco, North Maine Woods Inc. and American Forest Management. The wildlife department also gave Albert Starbird of Solon a lifetime award.
