A Whitefield man was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Curran, 42, at his Pittston Road home in connection with a felony offense allegedly committed against a victim who was under the age of 12 at the time.

The arrest was part of a joint investigation between the sheriff’s office and Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, authorities said in a news release. State police searched Curran’s home in April and seized digital media.

On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies searched the home a second time after reviewing information found by the state’s computer crimes unit.

Curran was arrested later in the day and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where he was held in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked by police to contact Detective Scott Hayden at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 882-7332.
