CAMBRIDGE, MASS. — Sigi Kolzar scored a game-high 22 points to lead the University of Maine to a 64-53 win over Harvard in both teams’ season-opener Friday.

Mikaela Gustafsson and Chantel Charles added 12 points apiece for the Black Bears.

SALEM ST. 62, THOMAS 40: Kia Fernandes scored a team-high 15 points to go with 11 rebounds to lead Salem St. past Thomas.

Katie McAllister of Pittston led Thomas with nine points and three rebounds.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

PLYMOUTH ST. 77, THOMAS 71: Curtis Arsenault scored 19 points as Plymouth St. defeated Thomas in both teams’ season debut in Waterville.

Tyheem Simon led the Terriers with 16 points, while Skowhegan graduate Levi Barnes added 14 points.

UCONN 100, MAINE 56: Till Gloger scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds but it wasn’t enough to lead Maine past Connecticut in their season-opener in Storrs, Conn.

Issac Vann added 10 points for the Black Bears. Sterling Gibbs led UConn with 20 points.
