York County Sheriff’s deputies had to use a Taser on an Arundel man who refused to surrender to charges of violating his bail conditions, police said.

Deputies went to the Limerick Road home of Jack Coffee, 56, to make sure he was abiding by his bail conditions and discovered he was with a woman who he was barred from having contact with because of a charge of domestic violence, according to Sheriff William King.

Deputies arrested Coffee but once outside the house he ran, King said. When deputies caught him he refused to submit to them and they had to use a Taser to subdue him, King said.

Deputies charged Coffee with a felony charge of violating bail conditions and a misdemeanor charge of refusing to submit to arrest. He was being held at York County Jail without bail pending a court appearance.
