FARMINGDALE — Hall-Dale High School’s National Honor Society will host a 5K Turkey Trot race or walk starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, with registration starting at 7:45 a.m. at Vaughn Park in Hallowell. The funds raised for this event will go towards helping various events that the young leaders of the community will run this year. Admission is $20 via reservations through an NHS member before Nov. 20, or $25 on the day of the event. Admission for Hall-Dale students is $15. NHS members also will collect food for the Food Bank on the day of the race.

The National Honor Society is a national organization designed to recognize excellence in high school students. Members are selected based on leadership, character, service and scholarship. Students who are accepted are challenged to give back to their community through service while improving their character and proving themselves to be leaders of tomorrow. Hall-Dale’s NHS chapter has just recently attended a leadership conference and has started running a big buddy tutoring program.
