FARMINGTON — A local woman was killed after a head-on collision between her minivan and an oil tanker truck on US Route 2 in Farmington Falls Tuesday evening, police said.

Tracy Taylor, 59, of Farmington, was driving her 2003 Ford Windstar minivan east when she drifted into the westbound lane and hit a Dead River oil truck head-on, the Farmington Police Department said in a press release Wednesday morning. The crash was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Taylor was killed in the crash. The driver and passenger in the oil truck were not seriously injured, according to police.

The truck rolled over and the road was blocked off from High Street and Farmington Falls Road, a distance of about a mile, for several hours Tuesday night. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene to deal with spilled fuel. The driver and passenger in the oil were not seriously injured in the crash.

Few details were available Tuesday night, but traffic in both directions on Route 2 was blocked and westbound traffic was detoured onto Farmington Falls Road. The accident was near the Sandy River Farms corn maze, a member of the fire department said.

Maine State Police, North Star Ambulance, Farmington Fire and Rescue, New Sharon Fire Department and Farmington Highway Department assisted at the scene of the accident.
