The Augusta Food Bank recently hosted its 5th Annual Dinner & Auction at the Civic Center. More than 270 people attended the event which raised more than $31,000 for the food bank, including more than $8,000 for the Kids Programs (Vacation Kids Packs and Weekend Packs.)
“Our sponsors were a major part of our successful evening,” Abbie Perry, chair of the auction committee, said in a news release from the food bank. Event sponsors were: On Target, Central Maine Power, Charlie’s Family of Dealerships, KV Fed-eral Credit Union, NRF Distributors, O’Connor Auto Park, Bangor Savings Bank, G&E Roofing, Hannaford Supermarkets, JS McCarthy Printers, J&S Oil, Kennebec Savings Bank and Maine General Health. Those who helped with the event were: Bill Tozier of Travel Pond Music for providing the musical entertainment and the Manchester Lions Club for running the 50/50 raffle. Dick Crosman served as the auctioneer extraordinaire yet again (and is a food bank volunteer).
In all, more than 140 local businesses and organizations donated something to the success of the event . Executive Director Sarah Miller remarks that the money raised gives the Augusta Food Bank a “critical jumpstart to the next 12 months.”
