“In any conflict, the boundaries of civilized behavior are defined by the party that cares least about morality,” author Randy Wayne White wrote a few days after 9/11.

Examine any society and we will find that “morality” is, at best, an amorphous mist that sometimes obscures instinct and at other times completely disappears, revealing the limbic impulses of this current evolution of apes.

The usual cloak of morality is and has been usually “religion” or sometimes “race.” Pick one, it really doesn’t matter which. They all profess to have the exclusive copyright to what is “moral.” It’s an absurd conceit.

Romans, Ottoman, Nazis and Muslims all hate the Jews; whites hate the blacks (and visa versa); capitalists (too, a religion) hate the communists (a religion as well) and on and on.

The world has been shocked by the attacks in Paris. The Islamic terrorists have again attacked our innocence.

And how is it any different from the atrocities that other societies have inflicted upon their neighbors down through history. Homo sapiens shall either evolve into creatures who have a genetically incorporated sense of morality or shall reduce themselves into a cloud of radioactive dust.
