Do people think Donald Trump erred when he said he wanted to card incoming Syrians?
He and our government are on the same page when it comes to IDs.
The federal government wants all 50 states and our territories to march in unison into the digital-tracking realm. It’s called the Real-ID Act, and it was passed in 2005.
So far, 28 states have been granted time extensions, but for how long, I wonder? Soon anyone without what the Department of Homeland Security deems a “valid” (federally compliant) ID will need a passport or submit to other screening means to travel or enter federal buildings.
Maine is holding out on this fiasco, and I must give the government, including Gov. Paul LePage, a thumbs-up for resisting what George Orwell predicted in “1984.”
