An Augusta man suffered minor injuries Thursday when he was hit by a car while crossing Cony Street.

Augusta police Sgt. Vicente Morris said the man, whose name he did not know, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center to be evaluated after complaining of pain.

Morris was not immediately able to identify the driver of the car, who was issued a citation charging failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. near the Arsenal Street intersection as the man crossed Cony Street.

Morris said Cony Street was closed for about 15 minutes as first responders tended to the injured man.
