A Biddeford man was arrested for burglarizing several cars after a citizen reported suspicious activity on Cumberland Avenue and Deering Avenue to Portland Police Sunday morning.

The man was charged with two counts of motor vehicle burglary and theft and misuse of a credit card.

Police said the arrest followed a tip from a citizen reporting a suspicious male in the Parkside neighborhood area.

Officer Ian Geib responded to the scene at about 8:45 a.m. and stopped a man who identified himself as Benjamin Bean. On further investigation, Geib located two vehicles in the area that had been broken into. The man was carrying a credit card that had been taken from one of the vehicles.

Further investigation determined that the man was actually Stephen Desmond, 31, of Biddeford. Desmond is being held on $20,000 bail at Cumberland County Jail.
