A Skowhegan man was arrested on a variety of charges after a car owner interrupted the burglary of her vehicle and an officer identified him as someone the police have dealt with before.

Jordan M. Holmes, 25, of Skowhegan, was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, theft and violation of condition of release following his arrest Monday by Skowhegan police.

Police received a complaint Monday of a burglary of a motor vehicle on High Street that the owner had found in progress. Police were able to get photographs of the suspect as well as surveillance footage from an area business.

The suspect was identified as Holmes by Officer Katelyn Treylino, who recognized him from “prior professional involvements,” according to a news release from the department.

Holmes is subject to bail conditions from prior arrests, and those include not using or possessing alcohol or illegal drugs. While responding to conduct a bail check on Holmes, Treylino learned of another burglary on Hilltop Drive, which is between Holmes’ residence and the area of the High Street burglary, according to the release.

During the bail check, stolen items were recovered from the Hilltop Drive burglary, police said, and Holmes was arrested.
