HALLOWELL — The following Let There Be Light events are planned for Hallowell.

Through Dec. 19

Donations for Family Violence Project — participants donate new gifts, unwrapped arts and crafts supplies and materials will benefit local children at the Family Violence Project shelter during the holidays and year-round. Donations can be dropped off at Dom’s Barber Shop.

Thursday, Dec. 10

Children’s Christmas Party will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1 Winthrop St. Santa will arrive in a fire truck. There will be a bounce house, arts and crafts, snacks, candy and popcorn, and a gift. Bring a non-perishable item for the Hallowell Food Bank. (Paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, toothpaste, etc. are also welcome.)

Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 and 12

“Magical Christmas” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 and 12, at Hallowell City Hall, 1 Winthrop St. Cost is $10, proceeds will benefit the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers. The Peacox Production, a Premier Male and Female Impersonation Troupe, will bring their unique blend of song, dance and comedy to a series of family friendly Christmas-themed benefit performances this holiday season. Saturday, Dec. 12

• Dress in Victorian Costume for Charles Dickens’ Christmas. HABOT invites merchants and residents to dress in costume Saturday, Dec. 12. For information on putting together your own costume or renting one, visit “HABOT presents Christmas and Holidays in Historic Hallowell” on Facebook or call Scrummy Afters at 621-2900.

• Gingerbread Creation Contest is set for 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Harlow Gallery, 160 Water St. Cooks and artists can submit a gingerbread creation. Ribbons awarded for Best Victorian Theme, Most Creative, Most Promising Junior Cook and Most Luscious to Look At! Everyone is invited to participate. Entries must be mostly edible and no larger than 24-inces square by 24-inches tall. The contest is scheduled for 9:30-10 a.m.

• Holiday Bizzarre will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Easy Street Lounge, 7 Front St. There will be local crafters and artists.

• Christmas Storefront Mouse Hunt Contest is set for 10 a.m.–2 p.m., sponsored by HABOT, for children up to 14 years of age. Entry forms are available at Boynton’s Market, Dom’s Barber Shop and Scrummy Afters. Participating stores will have a small FIND ME Mouse poster in their window. Forms need to be returned to Boynton’s by 2 p.m. All correct Mouse Hunt entries will be placed in a hat and three prizes will be drawn.

• A wreath-laying ceremony for veterans is set for noon at Hallowell Cemetery. The Goodrich-Caldwell American Legion Post 6 event is part of Wreaths Across America.

• Children can make magical snow globes from noon to 1 p.m. at Hubbard Free Library, 115 Second St. All No fee, supplies will be provided and all are welcome.

• Ice Sculpture Demonstration is set for noon-3 p.m. at the City Band Stand, Water Street .

• Hanukkah Treats and Stories will be shared at 1 p.m. at Hubbard Free Library, Second St. Hallowell resident and rabbi Erica Asch will share Hanukkah treats and stories about this ancient holiday of light which celebrates religious freedom.

• Free Horse Drawn Wagon Rides will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at American Legion Hall, Second Street. The wagon seats 10 and will be pulled by two Clydesdale horses though historic downtown Hallowell.

• The Great Hallowell Christmas Parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. from the Boat Landing to the City Bandstand

• Firework will begin at 5:15 p.m.

• Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest is set for 6-8 p.m. at The Wharf. The winner will receive at $25 Wharf gift certificate. The band Now is Now will begin at 9 p.m.
