Firefighters from four area departments put out an early morning structure fire in Temple on Sunday that the homeowner kept from spreading to his house by spraying it with a garden hose before firefighters arrived.
Fire engines from Temple, Wilton, Farmington and New Vineyard doused a shed that had caught fire in about an hour after the fire was reported at 1:30 a.m., Temple Fire Chief David True said.
The blaze at 115 Temple Road is still under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office, True said Monday, but no injuries resulted from the fire.
The homeowner was able to prevent any damage from spreading to his home by spraying his deck and the side of the shed facing the house with a garden hose before fire crews arrived on the scene.
True said that the shed was destroyed by the fire and that an all-terrain vehicle and tools were lost.
