AUBURN — The Lost Valley Ski Area in southern Maine has finally opened for the winter season of 2015-2016 for the first time under new ownership.
WCSH-TV reports Lost Valley was purchased by Scott Shanaman on Nov. 1 and he has made significant upgrades to the Auburn resort, which opened in 1961.
Shanaman hopes to rejuevenate the ski area, which is one of Maine’s oldest.
This season Shanaman has added new chairlift seats and will increase snowmaking at the ski area.
The fate of Lost Valley was in jeopardy after its previous owners grew concerned that they might have to close the mountain because of outstanding debts.
