RANGELEY — The Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce has announced the 23rd annual Chili/Chowder Cook-Off set for at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc. The event is sponsored by the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce and Budweiser Beer and is the kickoff event of Snodeo Weekend.

This event has been managed by Monika Liedl for many years. This year, Liedl passed the baton to Meagan Vryhof, who will organize the event, Vryhof is a member of the Board Events Committee.

There will be three categories of chili — mild, two alarm (medium), and three alarm (hot). A panel of judges will determine the winner in each category. Popular vote will determine the Best Overall Chili.

A new feature this year is there will be two categories for the chowder competition — fish/seafood and vegetable. A panel of judges will determine the winner of each categories and popular vote will determine the Best Overall Chowder.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Chamber of Commerce office, 6 Park Road. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and younger.
