MADISON — Kayla Bess had 19 points and eight rebounds to spark Madison past Oak Hill 43-40 in a Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball game Thursday.

Lauren Hay grabbed 11 rebounds for Madison (8-3) while Madeline Wood chipped in seven points.

Oak Hill (5-6) was led by Bri Mulherin with 13 points and Grace Sabine with 10.

WATERVILLE 40, BREWER 33: Jordan Jabar had 20 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Purple Panthers to the Kennebec Valley Atheltic Conference win in Waterville.

Fotini Shanos added eight points and eight rebounds for Waterville (4-6).

Cassidy Smith scored 16 points, including five 3-pointers, for Brewer (4-6).

MONMOUTH 59, WINTHROP 17: Tia Day and Julia Johnson each scored 12 point to spark the visiting Mustangs to the MVC win.

Hannah Anderson added seven points for Monmouth (9-1).

Matti Rice and Shie Smith had four points apiece for Winthrop (0-10).

BOYS BASKETBALL

PINE TREE 63, TEMPLE 62: J.P. Tshamala and Alex Milano scored 14 points apiece to lead Pine Tree to a narrow boys basketball win over Temple.

Brad Smith led all scorers with 25 points for Temple (5-2) while Joe Xu added 14 points and Kevin Avila 12.

BOYS HOCKEY

CONY/HALL-DALE/MONMOUTH 10, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 0: Anthony Brunelle had three goals and Riley Dowe and Tyler Sproul had two goals and an assist each to pace the Rams to the win in Hallowell.

Cam Wilson, Brett Sproul and Michael Boivin added the other goals for Cony (6-3-0). Cole Lockhart and Connor Perry had three assists each. Dalton Bowie made eight saves.

Brandon Baxter stopped 30 shots for Maranacook/Winthrop (0-8-0).
