MONMOUTH — Local businesses, individuals and organizations are pulling together to fight cabin fever from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, for the Monmouth Chili Chowder Challenge at Monmouth Fish & Game, 347 U.S. Route 202.

The event will feature awards for Best Chili, Best Chowder, and Kickin’ Cornbread. Suggested donation to taste the culinary delights is $5 per person, $20 for families (up to 6).

This year the program is being extended to include nonprofits that help with food for families in need.

To reigster, call Sanborn at 933-2557 or 446-6552 before Jan. 22, there is no fee to enter. Two awards will be presented: A People’s Choice Award, as in the previous years, and a Judge’s Award: Best Chili, Best Chowder, Best Cornbread.
