Police in Waldo County are looking for a man they say was involved in the robbery of a Burnham general store earlier this month.

David W. Pedone, 21, of East Newport, faces a class A robbery charge in connection with the Jan.8 robbery of the Patterson Store in Burnham, according to a news release Friday from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The store’s owner reported the incident originally as a burglary around 3 a.m. Jan. 8, but upon further investigation, the sheriff’s office decided to elevate the charge to robbery, Chief Deputy Jason Trundy said.

The store owner was knocked over by a group of people during the robbery, and though he was not seriously injured, the use of force is the reason the charge was elevated, Trundy said.

No weapons were used, but the robbers got away with store merchandise, Trundy said. He would not elaborate on what was taken from the store.

Trundy did not say how many people were involved in the robbery but added that more arrests are expected in the case.

Pedone’s last known address was in East Newport, but he also has ties to Fairfield, Hartland and Pittsfield, according to the release.

Police asked that anyone with information about Pedone call the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office at 338-2040.
