This past December, Gov. Paul LePage announced that he would release the Land for Maine’s Future bonds approved by voters in 2012. This was a big step forward in the fight to protect Maine’s working forests, farms, waterfronts, and special places, and could not have been accomplished without the leadership of House Majority Leader Jeff McCabe, D-Skowhegan.

McCabe consistently stands up for Maine’s environmental and economic resources. In the 2015 legislative session, he sponsored a bill to require the release of the LMF bonds and spoke passionately about honoring the will of Maine voters in urging the bonds’ release. McCabe championed the defeat of weak mining rules and the restoration of full funding for energy efficiency.

I want to thank McCabe for working to ensure that the will of Maine voters is heard in Augusta and for speaking up to protect Maine’s environment and economy.
