WINSLOW — Jared Cunningham became the all-time leading scorer in Messalonskee hockey history Saturday night, picking up seven points in a 10-4 victory over Old Town/Orono at Sukee Arena.
Cunningham needed three points to break the program record of 256 set by older brother Chase Cunningham.
Jared Cunningham assisted on the first two goals and then set the record when he scored a power play goal 6:15 into the opening period.
“It’s incredible,” Cunningham said. “I’m speechless. I tried not to think about it too much because you get too worked up about it. When I started thinking about the record, I had to do other things to get my mind off it.”
After the game, Chase Cunningham congratulated his younger brother in the locker room.
“It was a special moment,” Jared said.
Jared Cunningham scored four goals and three assists Saturday as Messalonskee improved to 6-3-1.
Old Town/Orono dropped to 4-6-1.
