DAMARISCOTTA — Wear Red for Women Day will take place Friday, Feb. 5 as February is American Heart Month. The Coastal team will hold a heart healthy brown bag lunch and a conversation about heart healthy food with Registered Dietitian Louse Spate on Go Red for Women day, at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main St.

The focus of the luncheon conversation will be what you’ve packed in your lunchbox. Many foods can help keep the heart at its best.

Heart disease and stroke cause one in three deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Fortunately, we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. Don’t forget to make your heart health a priority. Schedule your Well-Woman visit, a prevention check-up to review a woman’s overall health so your doctor can measure blood pressure, check cholesterol and look for signs of heart disease, stroke and other illnesses. Encourage others through your social channels to do the same using the hashtags, #GoRedWearRed and #WellWomenVisit.

Help us raise awareness to end this killer of women. Make a change on National Wear Red Day and all year long. Wear Red to show your support for saving women’s lives.
