Maine Drug Enforcement agents and Lewiston Police took two people into custody and secured an apartment in downtown Lewiston Friday for a suspected methamphetamine lab.

Officials had information of meth manufacturing in Apt. 203 at 333 Lisbon St. just after midnight early Friday morning. The two people taken into custody are being questioned by police.

Items consistent with meth manufacturing were discovered at the apartment. About 20 people were evacuated from the multi-unit building while officials awaited the MDEA’s clandestine laboratory enforcement team.

Friday’s incident is the MDEA’s sixth meth response this year.
